Locally grown beef: We use beef from a local farmer that doesn’t use antibiotics in his feed. The beef is good quality and straight from the farm. Beef provides a good source of protein, niacin, vitamin B6, selenium, zinc, and phosphorus.
Potatoes: Potatoes are a good source of vitamin B6 and a good source of potassium, vitamin C, phosphorus, niacin, and dietary fiber. Potatoes contain a variety of phytonutrients that have antioxidant activity. Our potatoes are cooked with the skin to preserve the wonderful nutrients.
Celery: Celery is an excellent source of vitamin K and molybdenum. It provides folate, potassium, dietary fiber, and pantothenic acid. Celery improves heart health, boosts immune system, and reduces blood pressure.
Carrots: Carrots provide a good source of antioxidants as well as rich in vitamins A, C, K, and B8. They provide ample pantothenic acid, folate, potassium, iron, cooper, and manganese. Carrots aid in heart health, boost immunity, and help in digestion.
Sardines: Sardines are added to Fresh4paws diets to provide a good source of vitamin B12. The vitamin could be added by including liver in the diet however liver contains high levels of vitamin A and sometimes excess vitamin D. Excess amounts of either of those vitamins are toxic. Sardines also aids in palatability.
Vegetable oil: Vegetable oil provides vitamin E (tocopherol), omega 3, omega 6, and a large number of healthy fats. Vegetable oil is needed to promote cell growth, improve metabolism, and provide omega 3 fatty acids to the body.
Bone meal powder: Bone meal is added for a big source of phosphorus and calcium carbonate. It contains the ideal ratio of calcium to phosphorus. Calcium is needed for strong bones.
Taurine: Taurine is an essential amino acid and is critical for life. Dogs are typically able to synthesize taurine in their bodies and that is why taurine is not usually added to dog food. However, it is found that certain breed of dogs can suffer from taurine deficiency in relation to certain diseases and may need to have taurine added to their diet. If you pet doesn’t need the extra taurine, then the excess taurine will be broken down and excreted as waste.
